Magnesium

Magnesium - reactive metal, which is easy to oxidize. Oxide film MgO is not characterized by high protective properties and oxidation rate considerably increases with the temperature rise. Magnesium ignites when heated up in the air up to 623 °C. It makes difficulties for magnesium and magnesium alloys melting and teeming.

Not alloyed magnesium is used for production of many chemical compositions, reductive and desulphurizing substances in metallurgy, as well as in pyrotechnics.

Fusion temperature is 650 °C.
