Nickel coating

Nickel coating is used in the industry to protect steel items and nonferrous metals from corrosion and increase durability of surfaces which are prone to rubbing. Nickel coating with respect to iron are cathode and can provide protection only if they don't have pores inside. That's why steel is covered with copper layer first (25-35 mcm) and after with nickel (10-15 mcm). Sulfate and chloride electrolytes are more widely used. From electrolytes with admixtures derivative from butanediol fine-grain, elastic, smooth shining coatings are deposited. The main fault of the coating is low corrosive resistance which is explained by the sulphur inclusions.

One can avoid it by applying two or three coatings.
